YOU are 200m above the Cairns Courthouse in Sheridan Street. This is the best view of the business precinct. Important sites include the Cairns Convention Centre, the Post Office and the ANZ bank. The Convention Centre is home to the Cairns Taipans national basketball team and seats 5000 in the main hall, hosting conferences from companies around the world. Carvings and paintings date back thousands of years. More recently, aboriginal artists have emerged with paintings and decorated artifacts including didgeridoos, boomerangs and dreaming sticks.
